Activities of AFI Working Groups in the National Bank of Tajikistan

On April 27, 2017 in the framework of AFI Working Groups Meetings, participants of Financial Inclusion Data (FID) Working Group and Financial Inclusion Strategy (FIS) Peer Learning Group have started discussion of issues relating development and exchange of information on assessment of financial inclusion.

The activity of the Financial Inclusion Data Working Group begun under the Chairmanship of Mr. Charles Marwa, AFI representative, and Sub-groups hold discussion of issues of Implications of Financial Inclusion Measurement. During discussion of this topic Mr. Amediku Settor, Bank of Ghana made a speech on further strategies on Financial Inclusion and Implications Measurement.

The activity of the Financial Inclusion Strategy Peer Learning Group, where both Sub-groups participated, has been devoted to issue of Financial Inclusion Strategy. Mr. Mohanad Salous, representative of Palestine Monetary Authority addressed the Working Group members with detailed explanation of National Strategy on Financial Inclusion in Palestine. Dr. Md Habibur Rahman, Bank of Bangladesh, Mr. Cheich Amadou Bamba, minister of Economic and Finance of Senegal, Mr. Simplice Nsabiyumva, Bank of Burundi and Mr. Otto Rodriguez, Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador also participated in discussion of the topic. Also, representatives of Central Banks of Mexico and Nigeria made speeches on realization of Financial Inclusion Strategy in member-countries, and provided the participants with results of financial inclusion in their countries. After consideration and assessments representatives of Financial Inclusion Strategy Peer Learning Group divided into Sub-groups and continued activity on exchange of experience on Financial Inclusion.

Thus, for achievement of their goals, AFI members learned the innovations and good practice of experienced specialists in the member-countries. Formulation of General Information System among AFI members will be used for integration of financial inclusion and exchange of gathered experience concerning core indicators, survey tools, analyses and application of information for providing information on financial inclusion.

Key issues of 11th Working Groups Meeting Plan of actions, which will take place in Saudi Arabia were considered and defined at the end of Working Group Session.

It is worth to note that AFI’s 15th Financial Inclusion Data (FID) Working Group and 10th Financial Inclusion Strategy (FIS) Peer Learning Group Meetings is taking place in the Republic of Tajikistan from April 24 till April 28, 2017.
