Information of the Press-Center of the National Bank of Tajikistan

Studied economics at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, specializing in Transition economics and International macroeconomics. After receiving an MA degree from the UvA in 1992, he worked as a staff member at the Monetary and Economic Policy department of the central bank of The Netherlands. In 1996 he returned to the UvA, in the PhD program of the Tinbergen Institute. In its later stages he held various temporary positions at the World Bank and IMF. He received his PhD in 2002, with a thesis entitled ‘Institutions, economic performance, and transition’, after joining the IMF as a staff member in 2000. At the IMF he has mainly worked on transition and developing countries (in particular Estonia, Senegal, Yemen, and Bangladesh), and low-income country policy issues in general.

The IMF Resident Representative in the Republic of Tajikistan is appointed for the term of two years, Mr. Moers has replaced Mr.S.Khavaja in this position.
