The bilateral meeting with representatives of the European Union for Central Asia has taken place today, on January 24, 2017 in the National bank of Tajikistan. In this meeting, the National bank of Tajikistan was presented by Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, the First Deputy of NBT and the European Union – by Mr. Peter Burian, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia.
During a working meeting the parties have discussed a current situation of banking system of the country and have exchanged opinions on the process of negotiations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the IMF.
Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, the First Deputy Chairman of the National bank of Tajikistan has reminded again an arrangement of high level meeting of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon with representatives of the IMF. It has been noted that the National bank of Tajikistan is willing to expand interaction in bank sphere, and most of conditions of the European Reconstruction and Development Bank are already met.
During a meeting Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev has also underlined that full reforming proceeds in banking system and all necessary measures will be taken for elimination of available lacks in this sphere. Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev has informed participants of the meeting on current situation of macroeconomic and financial indicators of the republic. It has been noted that for improvement of implemented reforms in the system, the National Bank of Tajikistan needs in technical support of partners to improve professional skills, to gain experience and to hold training seminars and also to attract consultants. It has been specially underlined a necessity of increasing international reserves, preservation of stable exchange rate of national currency against foreign currencies despite of external influence.
In turn, Special Representative of European Union Mr. Peter Burian has noted that the European Union mainly implements its programs in energy sector and supporting of SME. Also during the meeting there were discussed cooperation issues between Tajikistan and the European Union on exchange of experience in banking system, including electronic payment cards system.
At the end of the meeting the First Deputy Chairman of the National bank of Tajikistan Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev has noted that the National bank of Tajikistan is willing to extend cooperation and urged the representative of the European Union to assist in effective cooperation, supporting and technical assistance rendering in development banking system reforms of the country.
Mr. Hidaet Biskevich, Head of the European Union Representative Office, Mrs. Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Head of Central Asia Division, Mr. Raymond Vingris - Policy Adviser of the European Union and heads of structural subdivisions of the National bank of Tajikistan have participated in the meeting.
