Management of the National Bank of Tajikistan, consisting of Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Chairman of the NBT and Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the NBT held a working meeting with Mr. Paul Inderbinen, IMF Executive Director and IMF delegation headed by Ms. Padamja Khandelwal, which is on the working trip in the Republic of Tajikistan with the purpose of study of current situation of economy, including financial-banking system for designing new economic reform programme, on March 14, 2019 in the National Bank of Tajikistan. Ilhom Rajabov, Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan in the World Bank and International Monetary Fund also has participated in this meeting.
Parties have expressed their views of fruitful cooperation of the National Bank of Tajikistan and International Monetary Fund, social and economic development of the country, innovation and reforms in the banking system, maintenance of macroeconomic stability due to potential risks, improvement of financial situation of banking system, necessity for enhancement of monetary policy base, efficient realization of economic reform and other discussed issues.
In the course of meeting Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Chairman of the NBT has said that IMF will also continue its constructive initiatives, and implements useful measures for enhancement of economic development and banking system of country.
Mr. Paul Inderbinen, IMF Executive Director has visited the Republic of Tajikistan for the first time with the purpose of participation in talks for development of New Economic Reform Programme and has expressed opinion for extension of beneficial cooperation. It shoul be noted that Mr. Paul Inderbinen is a team leader of constituency and represents the interests and initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan in the International Monetary Fund.
Throughout the meeting Ms. Padamja Khandelwal, Head of the IMF mission to Tajikistan expressed her opinion on study of economic situation and influence of external factors on domestic exchange market situation, export capacity of the country and import level, inflation rate, international reserves management. Consiquently, Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the NBT has presented detailed explanation to the IMF delegation.
Ms. Padamja Khandelwal, considering the implemented reforms in the system, has noted that at the meantime due to efforts of present management of the NBT the banking system of the country in comparison with several years passed is evaluated as stable, and its stability is supposed in the near future.
At the end, Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda has expressed his hope to achievement of final consent in development of New Economic Reform Programme supported by the IMF.
