Meeting of Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev with the World Bank Mission

On February 5, 2020 within the limits of implementation of Project “Digital CASA in the Republic of Tajikistan” Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the NBT held a working meeting with representatives of the World Bank, consisting of senior experts on digital development Oleg Petrov (project manager), Vlad Manoil, Zarrina Abdulalieva, staff member of the World Bank Resident Representative Office in the Republic of Tajikistan and other accompanying persons.

At the beginning, Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev has expressed satisfaction with the level of fruitful cooperation of the National Bank of Tajikistan and the World Bank and has highly appreciated the potential of project “Digital CASA in the Republic of Tajikistan” for creation of the sound base of digital economy in the country. He also has expressed willingness to assist in maintenance of qualitative and effective implementation of the given project.

Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the NBT has noted that proper realization of the given project in the near future will promote to national economy development, creation of digital infrastructure and favorable conditions for integration at the regional level, to expanded access to Internet, healthy competition and creation of new jobs.

- Purpose-oriented and effective implementation of the project of digital communication development between the Central Asia and Southern Asia countries in the Republic of Tajikistan is very important not only for our country, but also for the countries of entire region also. Accordingly, the project should be implemented taking into account specificity of economy of the region and during establishment of Project Management Office of “Digital CASA in the Republic of Tajikistan» it should be considered positive experience of the World Bank in implementation of similar projects in other countries. As the establishment of powerful Project Management Office will create conditions for realization of digital initiatives adequately, has underlined Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev. He also has paid attention to quality of implementation of the project, providing useful advice on prevention of potential risks.

In turn representatives of the World Bank have expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and also the National Bank of Tajikistan with the World Bank in formulation of the project of digital communication development between the countries of the Central Asia and Southern Asia in the Republic of Tajikistan and have noted that Tajikistan makes correct steps for implementation of the given project. Also was noted that Tajikistan has already done certain works for perfection of the concept of proposed project and its implementation mechanisms, and our country has excellent opportunity to take in the lead positions among the region countries in some aspects of digital economy, having rich potential in the given area.

During the meeting it was noted that the project main objective is enhancing access to the high-speed Internet in the country, including in the remote regions. Within the limits of realization of the offered project it is also considered performance of complex of measures promoting rendering digital financial services by credit financial institutions for development and expansion of trade and realization of digital government.

It is worth to note that development of digital economy within the project “Digital CASA in the Republic of Tajikistan” will promote the further economic integration of two Asia regions: Central and Southern, enhancing access to world digital economy, creation of opportunities for using qualitative digital services.
