Gulbahor Naziri meets German Sparkassenstiftung expert Branko Wehnert

On October 2, 2023 Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Naziri Gulbahor Nazir held a meeting with the expert of the German Savings Banks Foundation (German Sparkassenstiftung), which was held at the National Bank of Tajikistan, the issue of establishing the Banking Academy in the Republic of Tajikistan was considered.

The head of the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation Mrs. Inna Mazur, and a specialist from this Fund, Dilovar Rakhimov.also attended the meeting.

At the beginning, Gulbahor Naziri thanked the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation for the effective work undertaken within the framework of the implementation of the "National Strategy for Financial Inclusion" of the Republic of Tajikistan and other joint projects, as well as for the support provided to the banking system of the country, including assistance in the establishment of the planned Banking Academy in the Republic of Tajikistan. It was also noted that today's meeting creates favorable conditions for strengthening fruitful cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the German Sparkassenstiftung.

Gulbahor Naziri stated that the issue of establishing Banking Academy in the Republic of Tajikistan is being considered which will be able to meet the current realities of the international market and improve the quality of financial services. She noted that the German Sparkassenstiftung has rich experience in this direction and the NBT is ready to discuss this issue with the Fund, as the improvement of knowledge and qualification of employees is necessary for the development of the national economy and banking system, and the Banking Academy can fulfill this task at the appropriate level.

Branko Wehnert, German Sparkassenstiftung expert, in turn expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with the National Bank of Tajikistan on the establishment of the Banking Academy. He noted that the details and timing of the establishment of the educational institution, its further financing, identification of market needs and other aspects of activity will be determined during meetings with industry specialists.

He also noted that the activities of the Banking Academy of the Republic of Tajikistan must be stable, therefore the structure of its financing should be discussed with investor countries.

In the final part of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Gulbahor Naziri stated that the National Bank of Tajikistan is ready for a free dialogue with German Sparkassenstiftung on the establishment and determination of the structure and organization of the Banking Academy.

It should be noted that the experts of the German Sparkassenstiftung have planned to hold a number of meetings with the specialists of the National Bank of Tajikistan and credit financial institutions on the establishment of the Banking Academy in Tajikistan. After that, taking into account the needs, proposals and recommendations, a roadmap with specific steps for the establishment of the Banking Academy will be developed.
