On October 30 of this year, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Ikromi, held a meeting with Mr. Vili Kempel, Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Programme Office in Dushanbe.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding practical cooperation in the field of combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (AML/CFT/CPF).

Sirojiddin Ikromi expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, and acknowledged the significant contribution of the Office to strengthening the national AML/CFT/CPF system.

It was noted that the National risk assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing in the country is one of the key areas within the framework of the OSCE Programme Office’s technical assistance in Dushanbe. It is expected that the report will be approved at the next meeting of the Standing Interagency Commission on AML/CFT/CPF.

The Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, in addition to the risks related to AML/CFT/CPF, also highlighted pressing global issues such as the impact of natural disasters, glacier melt, and other challenges, and acknowledged the timeliness of the Republic of Tajikistan’s initiatives in these areas.

The parties also exchanged views on other areas of cooperation, for the implementation of which the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe expressed its readiness to provide support.
