Memorandum of Understanding in respect of Cooperation on the implementation of the We-Finance Code in Tajikistan
On April 29, 2024, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Tolibzoda Firdavs, met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Mrs. Odile Reno-Basso, the Managing Director of the EBRD for Central Asian countries, Mrs. Zsuzsanna Hhargitai, and their accompanying delegation.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation, its impact on the country's economy, the importance of attracting EBRD assistance to the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the increase of beneficial cooperation in the banking sector.
In addition, the National Bank of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development agreed to expand cooperation in the direction of supporting women's entrepreneurship and facilitating their international business.
Within the framework of the mentioned meeting, the Memorandum of Understanding in respect of cooperation on the implementation of the We-Finance Code in Tajikistan was signed between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties will try to involve public and private sector partnerships and improve the analysis and use of data related to the financial inclusion of women-led enterprises. This decision will help reduce the funding gap for women entrepreneurs and provide innovative solutions to mobilize the necessary capital for their development.
It should be noted that the representatives of CJSC Bank "Arvand" and CJSC MDO "Humo" were also present at this meeting. On the sidelines of the MoU under the auspices of its Women in Business Program a loan agreement to the amount of US$ 5 million has been signed between EBRD and CJSC “Arvand” and under the EBRD’s Trade Facilitation Program a bank agreement to the amount of US$ 1 million has been concluded with CJSC MDO "Humo".
