Visit of the US Treasury Department to the NBT

On August 14, 2024, a meeting took place between Tolibzoda Firdavs Nazrimad, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and a delegation from the US Treasury Department led by Paula Jones, a senior advisor in the banking and financial services groups. They discussed ongoing joint projects and potential new areas for bilateral collaboration.   

The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan expressed gratitude for the US Treasury Department's significant support regarding the technical assistance provided to the National Bank of Tajikistan. This includes efforts to replace the current automated Core Banking System, reform the insurance sector, develop its infrastructure, enhance the preparation and submission of financial reports by insurance entities, upgrade the skills of insurance personnel, design the business processes of the National Bank of Tajikistan (BPMN 2.0), as well as establish key operational risk indicators.

Further, the parties exchanged opinions regarding potential projects in key focus areas for the National Bank of Tajikistan. This includes strategies for preventing and mitigating operational risks, retraining staff and preparing risk managers, analyzing statistical data from the insurance system, implementing a contemporary reporting framework in the insurance sector, and discussing related concerns.

Moreover, it was highlighted that in the continuation of their collaboration, both specialists from the National Bank of Tajikistan and employees of insurance companies will be more actively involved in professional growth and experience sharing.
