On 25 September 2024, at the meeting of the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Tolibzoda Firdavs Nazrimad with the International Monetary Fund, the issues of the Policy Coordination Instrument were discussed.
First, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan thanked the International Monetary Fund for its cooperation in strengthening economic policy and supporting the implementation of vital structural reforms in the Republic of Tajikistan, and provided brief information on the macroeconomic situation in the country.
Furthermore, the sides exchanged views on economic prospects, measures taken by the National Bank of Tajikistan in this regard, international reserves and their impact on monetary policy and the balance of payments, changes in the foreign exchange market, the inflation rate, as well as the implementation of IMF recommendations and the process of implementing the Policy Coordination Instrument. This instrument was developed to ensure sustainable economic development and attract foreign capital to the country's economy.
We remind that at the request of the Republic of Tajikistan in order to strengthen economic policy and support the implementation of vital structural reforms, on 28 February this year, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund approved the Policy Coordination Instrument for Tajikistan for a period of 22 months. The Policy Coordination Instrument is a non-financial instrument that provides advisory assistance to member countries. This instrument is considered important for improving the investment climate and its use will contribute to making the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan more attractive.
