On October 22 of this year, during the working visit of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan to the USA, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, F.N. Tolibzoda, and the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, F.S. Qahhorzoda, met with Mr. Jihad Azur, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation process of the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), its progress, the review of the first phase of PCI implementation, and further plans within the program's framework.
Other areas of cooperation were also discussed. In particular, regarding the IMF’s role in institutional development and human capacity building, the importance of increasing the knowledge and experience of specialists in the fields of modeling and forecasting, monetary and credit statistics, analysis of financial system risks and climate risks was emphasized. Simultaneously, the parties considered it crucial to involve technical assistance in preparing regulatory documents related to green financing.
On October 24, during a bilateral meeting between the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan and Mr. Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, the discussions focused on the implementation process of the Policy Coordination Instrument, the priorities of the Republic of Tajikistan for green financing projects, the digitalization of the country's economy, integration of all business processes, and other areas of cooperation.
It was noted that continuous dialogue between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund is essential to achieve these goals, as it contributes to financial stability and sustainable economic development.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was represented by F.S. Qahhorzoda, Minister of Finance, F.N. Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Yu.Kh. Majidi, First Deputy Minister of Finance, P.H. Amirzoda, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the IMF and World Bank; and Z.G. Boyakov, Director of the International Reserves Management and Exchange Rate Policy Department of the NBT.
