On November 24, within the framework of an official delegation's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kholikzoda Hokim Hikmatullo, a series of meetings were held with high-level representatives. The delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan conducted bilateral meetings with the President of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan Abdurrahman al-Marshad, the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Mr. Muhammad al-Jassir and the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdurrahman al-Fazli. These meetings focused on exploring prospects for elevating relations between Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to a qualitatively new level.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan Abdurahman al-Marshad, both parties discussed pressing issues within the economic, financial, and banking sectors, expressing their readiness to develop cooperation through investment projects and strengthen close partnerships.
In the meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Mr. Muhammad al-Jassir, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in areas such as health, transport, energy, education, food security, and other important issues. The Tajik delegation also highlighted the significance of the Islamic Development Bank's assistance in developing the Islamic banking system, which has gained global prominence and attracted the attention of traditional banking systems. Notably, during this meeting, the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Mr. Muhammad al-Jassir, was awarded the state award of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Order of "Friendship," by the Head of the Tajik delegation.
The meeting between the country's delegation and the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdurrahman al-Fazli, focused on expressing their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation. They discussed pressing issues in industry, agriculture, energy, and other important sectors.
It is noteworthy that on November 25, the delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the 28th International Investment Conference held in Riyadh.
Participation in this conference provided a favorable platform for discussing important issues related to the global economy, current challenges, direct investment for sustainable development, green financing, and digitalization.
Within the framework of this event, the country's delegation met with the Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Commerce of Saudi Arabia, Hassan al-Huwaizi. During this meeting, they exchanged views on cooperation and expanding ties in trade and economy. The parties subsequently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for establishing the Tajikistan-Saudi Arabia Working Council.
