As part of the official visit of a delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Thailand, which took place on November 25-26 of this year, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firuz Sharifzoda met with Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank, Thailand's largest bank, to discuss investment opportunities in Tajikistan's financial sector: banking and insurance.
During their conversation, the parties exchanged views on expanding investment and trade and strengthening economic relations. They assessed the need to establish cooperation between the countries' banking systems at a qualitatively new level, including establishing a branch of Bangkok Bank in Tajikistan and opening correspondent accounts.
The delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan also met with Mr. Akanat Promphan, Minister of Industry of Thailand, and subsequently with Dr. Rak Worrakitpokator, President of the Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIMBANK).
During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including prospects for political, economic, trade, and cultural relations between Tajikistan and Thailand. They expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries by implementing joint programs in sectors such as industry, energy, agriculture, digitalization, medicine, tourism, and others.
The participation of the Export-Import Bank of Thailand in important projects within the industrial, energy, and agricultural sectors was also discussed, with special attention paid to strengthening cooperation in these areas.
Later that day, the Tajik delegation met with Ms. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Deputy Chairman of the Royal Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The discussion focused on the current state of the countries' economies and new trade and investment opportunities, particularly in mining, energy, trade, logistics, and the use of modern artificial intelligence technologies.
Overall, a constructive and inclusive dialogue was held between the parties on various fronts to explore new avenues for trade and economic cooperation.
