Visit to the Automated Cash Processing Center at the Central Bank of Malaysia


On December 13, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda met with the management team of the Automated Cash Processing Center at the Central Bank of Malaysia.

During the meeting, the parties have expressed their views on the importance of exchanging experience and expanding mutually beneficial relationship between the central banks of both countries.

In the course of the meeting, the representatives of Central Bank of Malaysia have made a presentation on the history and capabilities of the Automated Cash Processing Center, and then the delegation of the National Bank of Tajikistan was closely acquainted with the work of the center in separate regions.

It is worth noting that the Automated Cash Processing Center at the Central Bank of Malaysia was established in 2016 with participation of domestic and foreign specialists and has the ability to quickly and efficiently process large amounts of cash.

The annual processing capacity of the center is approximately 3 billion banknotes. The shabby, soiled and unfit banknotes are identified and removed using modern equipment, and only high-quality banknotes are returned to circulation after processing.

In addition, the use of digital technology has allowed the Central Bank of Malaysia to reduce its total workforce by 53 percent and increase its cash processing capacity by 33 percent after the center was launched.
