Gulbahor Naziri participated in the World Bank Group regional roundtable entitled "Promoting the Use of Digital Payments through Innovation, Partnership, and Trust", which was held in Tashkent. The event brought together heads of ministries of finance, central banks, and representatives of the private sector of Central Asian countries.
At the roundtable, participants exchanged views on the opportunities and potential of digital payments in increasing the coverage of the population with financial services, eliminating gender gaps in digital payments, and global experience in preventing and managing risks related to cybersecurity, fraud, and protecting the rights of consumers of financial services.
In particular, Gulbahor Naziri stated that "In recent years, the National Bank of Tajikistan has been paying special attention to the development of payment infrastructure, improving legal regulation, as well as creating conditions for the expansion of digital payments and increasing financial access of the population. Within the framework of these goals, the "Strategy for the Development of the Payment System of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2015-2025" and the "National Financial Inclusion Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022-2026" have been adopted and are being implemented.
Within the framework of another World Bank project "Digital Foundations of Tajikistan", it is planned to implement a number of important measures for the financial market, such as the creation of a single state platform for paying for state services and the creation of a single interbank identification center. The implementation of these projects will significantly improve the financial market infrastructure and contribute to the further economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan. Therefore, the rapid development of digitalization makes the issues of cybersecurity and data protection particularly important. For this purpose, it is necessary to implement modern mechanisms for data management, data protection, as well as advanced cybersecurity standards for data protection, as well as advanced cybersecurity standards to counter cyber-attacks and fraud.”
It is noteworthy that representatives of other countries in the region also spoke at this event about the development and reform of infrastructure in their countries, the introduction of innovation and the expansion of digital technologies, the provision of advanced digital products to make financial management easier, more accessible and more effective, as well as facilitating the use of credit resources and equity financing by enterprises.
