The First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firuz Sharifzoda participated in the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), which was held in Rabat, Morocco on July 1-3, 2025.
This high-level event, hosted by the Central Bank of Morocco, brought together representatives of central banks, regulatory authorities, financial institutions and international institutions from different countries. The main goal of the meeting is to strengthen the international cooperation and sustainable development of Islamic finance. The meeting discussed key issues such as the stability of the Islamic financial system, improving the legal framework and strengthening regulatory and supervisory mechanisms.
The meeting heard the annual report and the results of the IFSB financial audit, and discussed issues related to membership and coordination of the Council's future activities, as well as strategic directions for the future development of Islamic finance and the role of the IFSB in this process. This meeting, which is considered an important event in strengthening the stability of Islamic finance, along with strengthening international cooperation, further strengthened the role of the IFSB as a guiding and leading organization in the development of global Islamic finance.
In the framework of the conference, the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has actively participated in the general meetings and thematic sessions of the IFSB, expressing the position of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Bank of Tajikistan on the issues of developing Islamic finance, strengthening the banking regulatory and supervisory system, strengthening the financial market, and regional integration.
On the sidelines of the meeting Firuz Sharifzoda held fruitful meetings and negotiations with the heads of a number of central banks of the IFSB member countries as well as with representatives of influential international institutions. During the meetings, important issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, studying advanced practices, access to financial and technical resources as well as attracting experts and holding joint trainings in the field of Islamic finance and banking were discussed.
Given the growing interest of the international community in the Islamic finance and the initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan to strengthen the country's financial system, the participation of the National Bank of Tajikistan in such international forums is considered important. This process will allow the introduction of international experience and standards in Tajikistan and the creation of the necessary legal and infrastructure basis for the development of Islamic services.
The working visit of the National Bank of Tajikistan delegation to the Kingdom of Morocco and participation in the Annual IFSB Meeting was the next step towards strengthening cooperation with international financial institutions and development partners, and created a favorable basis for the exchange of experience in the field of Islamic finance and banking.
