On July 17, 2025, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda received the newly appointed Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Gazi Shbaikat.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda has expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation of the IMF and the support of this influential international financial institution in the development of the country's economy, and congratulated Mr. Gazi Shbaikat on his appointment to this position. It was stated that “The National Bank of Tajikistan highly appreciates the activities of the International Monetary Fund as a strategic partner of the country in promoting sustainable economic development. We are confident that your rich experience will make a valuable contribution to further strengthening cooperation between the IMF and the Republic of Tajikistan.”

Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on statistical indicators and positive trends in economic development in the Republic of Tajikistan, the process of the Policy Coordination Leverage Program (PCI) as an important tool for promoting structural reforms, improving monetary policy, and other areas of cooperation.

It was noted that for more than 30 years, the International Monetary Fund has provided comprehensive assistance to the Republic of Tajikistan in the implementing reforms, strengthening macroeconomic stability, and developing the financial sector, and joint programs and consultations with the IMF experts have allowed the country to maintain economic stability even in difficult conditions. Taking into account the above, the parties have stated that cooperation will continue to be strengthened.
In conclusion, Firdavs Tolibzoda wished the IMF Resident Representative success in his work and expressed the National Bank of Tajikistan's constant willingness for constructive dialogue and fruitful cooperation.
