On August 15, 2025, the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda, held a virtual meeting with representatives of Column Bank on the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the United States and the US Business Council.
During the meeting the parties, referring to the friendly relations and ongoing partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States of America for more than 30 years of state independence, have noted that there are still many opportunities for the implementation of joint investment projects in various sectors of the economy.
The parties also have exchanged views on reforms of the country's banking system. The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan called on representatives of Column Bank to facilitate the establishment of correspondent relations with Tajik banks including the opening of direct correspondent accounts. It was noted that for this purpose, the country has created a legal framework and necessary conditions to ensure strict compliance with international standards including the requirements of the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF).
In conclusion, the parties have expressed hope that the results of the meeting will contribute to the expansion of cooperation between the banking systems of Tajikistan and the United States and the establishment of new financial ties.
