On October 15, 2025, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokim Kholiqzoda met with the President of Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al Jasser on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group.
At the beginning of the meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholiqzoda thanked Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al Jasser for the fruitful cooperation and continued support of the Islamic Development Bank in implementing the country's economic and social development programs, noting that over the years of cooperation in the Republic of Tajikistan, the Islamic Development Bank has made a significant contribution to the country's economic development and, through its financial and technical support, contributed to the achievement of national goals.
Furthermore, the parties have discussed expanding cooperation in the sectors of energy, industry, agriculture, transport, tourism development, and banking, as well as mitigating the impact of external factors on the country's economy and continuing reforms. Specifically, touching on banking issues, it was noted that the development of Islamic banking is considered one of the key areas of reform in the country's financial system. In the Republic of Tajikistan, along with the creation of a regulatory framework, special attention is being paid to strengthening human resources and implementing international standards.
During the meeting the parties have also focused on development of green energy and green economy, digitalization and introduction of innovative technologies in economic sectors. They have expressed their willingness to further extended cooperation and jointly implementing important projects for the sustainable development of Tajikistan's economy.
It should be noted that Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Fayziddin Qahhorzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda, Head of Financial Department of the Executive Office of President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmud Jumazoda and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Amirzoda Payrav have also attended the meeting.
