Meeting of the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan with the Chairman of the Swiss National Bank

On October 16, 2019, the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda, met in Washington with the Chairman of the Swiss National Bank Martin Schlegel. During the meeting, the parties have exchanged views on important issues of mutual cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the Swiss National Bank, and discussed ways to strengthen relations and expand collaboration in the areas of monetary policy, financial stability, risk management, and human resource development.

The Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan has expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two financial institutions, which has continued for over 25 years, and noted that during this period, with the support of the Swiss National Bank, numerous technical assistance projects in the areas of international resource management, monetary policy, and risk management have been implemented. It was noted that Tajikistan currently has positive economic growth indicators and the country's monetary policy is aimed at ensuring price stability, strengthening the banking system and sustainable economic growth.

The parties also have discussed opening correspondent accounts, expanding financial transactions, strengthening international payments, trade, and investment cooperation, developing green finance, and climate resilience. They also have noted that sharing experiences, expert consultations and training programs could help strengthen institutional capacity and develop a new generation of specialists in this field.

At the end of the meeting, the parties have stated that relations between the two countries' central banks would continue at a high level, taking into account mutual interests.
