On November 21, 2025, a meeting of the Coordination Council of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) of the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the National Bank of Tajikistan. The members of Coordination Council, heads of ministries and departments, heads of working groups and other officials responsible for implementing the Strategy have attended the meeting.
Tolibzoda Firdavs Nazrimad, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, who is also the Chairman of Coordination Council of National Financial Inclusion Strategy has opened the meeting and presented the agenda to participants.
The Chairman of the Council Firdavs Tolibzoda has emphasized that in the era of rapid development of artificial intelligence and digital technology, financial inclusion is an important element of access to quality financial services. This process plays a significant role in ensuring the sustainable development of the banking system and financial sector, strengthening the private sector, improving the business environment, developing human capital, social standards, and raising the living standard and life quality of the population.
In order to increase access to banking services, a regulatory legal framework has been created to expand the infrastructure for providing banking services, remote identification, introduce a banking mechanism through an open application interface, ensure mutual integration of bank payment cards, electronic wallets and the use of a single QR code, etc. It was noted that to date, 16 million bank accounts have been opened for customers by credit and financial institutions (this indicator has increased by 19.7% compared to the previous year). The number of bank payment cards has reached 9.6 million, which is 20% more than in 2024. At the same time, the number of electronic wallets has reached 16.7 million, which is 48.5% more than in the previous year.
Then, the Head of Executive Committee of the NFIS, F.S.Mamadaliev has reported on the Action plan for the implementation of the Strategy in 2024 and the first 9 months of 2025. According to the results, 51 items (76%) of the Action plan for implementation of NFIS have been completed during the specified period, and 16 items (24%) are in the process of being implemented. In whole, significant indicators have been achieved in the fields of access, use and quality of financial services.
Furthermore, other members of the Council also have provided detailed information on the relevant areas of the Action plan for the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, and specific instructions and orders were given to implement the relevant items.
The meeting of the Coordination Council of NFIS of the Republic of Tajikistan was ended by emphasizing the importance of continuing work to develop financial inclusion and expand access to financial services in the republic.
