Meeting of the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan with the World Bank Group delegation


On February 26, 2026, the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda met with the delegation of World Bank Group led by the Director of IFC's financial institutions in the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Ms. Momina Ayjazuddin. The issues of strengthening effective bilateral cooperation, developing the financial sector and expanding access to financing for the private sector, especially small and medium-sized businesses were discussed in the meeting.

The Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan, while briefing the macroeconomic situation and indicators of the country's banking sector, has referred to the many years of fruitful cooperation with the World Bank Group, in particular with the IFC, and noted that partnership relations have played a significant role in strengthening the stability of the banking system, introducing modern corporate governance standards, improving the risk management system, developing digital financial services and expanding financial inclusion.

During the meeting, the parties also have discussed the opportunities of expanding cooperation in the areas of strengthening the compliance system, financing small and medium-sized businesses, including supporting women's entrepreneurship, developing green and sustainable finance, digitizing financial services, and risk management.

It was noted that the above-mentioned cooperation will contribute to strengthening financial stability, expanding the coverage of financial services, and ensuring the sustainable development of the country's financial sector. At the end of the meeting, the parties have stressed their willingness to continue constructive and fruitful cooperation.
