The European Commission, in its decision of April 23, 2026, related to the 20th package of the EU sanctions, removed three of the country's financial institutions - CJSC Spitamen Bank, CJSC Dushanbe City Bank and OJSC Commerzbank of Tajikistan, which were previously included in the 19th package of restrictions, from the sanctions list.

This decision is considered a direct result of the expansion of cooperation between the regulatory body and the relevant ministries and departments of the country with the European Commission, the consistent implementation of international compliance standards and strengthening of anti-monetary laundering system. Such an approach will give a positive impetus to the further development of the banking system, increase investor confidence and expand financial services in the country.

The National Bank of Tajikistan will continue to pay special attention to implementing reforms, increasing transparency, strengthening the internal control system and ensuring full compliance of the banking system with international standards.
