On May 19, 2026, Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan met with delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by Mr. Simon Andrews, the newly appointed Regional Director for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has briefed the IFC delegation on the key indicators of the country's financial and banking system and noted the positive development dynamics.
In turn, Simon Andrews, head of the IFC delegation, has highly praised the achievements of banking system of the Republic of Tajikistan and congratulated the National Bank of Tajikistan on its significant achievements, including its removal from the sanctions list.
During the meeting, the parties have exchanged views on development of a new Country Partnership Framework for the next five years. In this regard, the need to expand cooperation in priority areas, including the digitalization of financial services, development of mortgage lending, and green finance was emphasized.
The issues of expanding technical cooperation, strengthening financial infrastructure, and leveraging best international practices to support banking sector reforms were also discussed.
