On May 20, 2026, Firdavs Tolibzoda, the Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan met with Ms. Irene Frey, Deputy Head of Department at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the parties have discussed issues related to financial sector development, strengthening financial inclusion, expanding digital services, improving the banking supervision system, and expanding technical cooperation.
The Chairman of NBT has underlined the high level of cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Swiss Confederation, noting that joint projects have made a significant contribution to strengthening the country's financial infrastructure, developing digital services, improving financial literacy, and implementing the National Financial Inclusion Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022-2026.
During the meeting the parties have exchanged views on current situation of the economy and financial system of the Republic of Tajikistan, implementation of structural reforms, and prospects for further cooperation. It was noted that Tajikistan's economy demonstrated positive growth dynamics in 2026, and the banking system maintained its stability.
It was also emphasized that the development of digital financial services and non-cash payments in the country continues at a rapid pace, and the number of users of electronic payment instruments and e-wallets is steadily growing. At the end of the meeting the parties have expressed their willingness to continue constructive cooperation and support reforms in the financial sector of the Republic of Tajikistan.
