1. What is the reason of downswing of exchange rate of US dollar in Tajikistan?
Change of exchange rate of national currency in relation to foreign currencies is normal market process over the world.
Tajik Somoni is not an exception to the rules and also its rate defined by the market, i.e. parity of supply and demand of foreign currency in the internal currency market.
First of all, the basic cause of reduction of exchange rate of US dollar is connected with seasonal factors of increase in volumes of agricultural production, particularly fruit and vegetables (apricot, peach, cherry, plum water-melon and melon) which directly promoted growth of volumes of export of fruits and vegetables and US dollar receipt.
Moreover, the National Bank of Tajikistan and credit organizations took measures on increase in supply US dollar in cash along with stabilization and strengthening of Russian ruble and influence of seasonal factors promoted strengthening of exchange rate of Somoni in the cash currency market.
2. What is the volume of currency intervention from the beginning of 2014?
The volume of currency interventions made by the National Bank from January 2014 has made USD 46,4 million which the main share falls in the period of February and April.
