The first meeting of the US-Tajikistan Business Council with the participation of the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdusalom Qurboniyon- Finance Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmuhammadzoda - Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Umed Latipov – Deputy Minister of Finance, Farhod Salim - Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan in the USA and Ilhom Rajabov - Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan in the World Bank and IMF took held on the first half of October 7, 2016 in Washington.
Phillip de Leon - Director of Public Affairs and International Business Development of AGCO Corporation, Head of the Council, Michael Delaney - US Trade Representative Assistant for South Asia and Senior Manager on International Trade and Investment of the “General Electrics” Company, Orit Frenkel - Vice President of the Council, Senior Counselor of the Baker & McKenzie Company, representatives of the US State Department, Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture and the US trade companies have represented the USA in this official event.
During the event the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan provided the representatives of US business with the detailed information on the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in arrangement of favorable investment climate, guarantees and privileges for foreign investors and important sectors of economy.
The sides highly appreciated the establishment of the Council, which will enhance the trade cooperation between the USA and Tajikistan and expressed the willingness to expand the activity of the Business Council.
It is worthwhile noting that the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan will also participate on the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Washington. The Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund started on October 7 and will last till October 11, 2016.
