The opening ceremony of the AFI’s 15th Financial Inclusion Data (FID) Working Group and 10th Financial Inclusion Strategy (FIS) Peer Learning Group Meetings with participation of representatives of 47 countries of the world, the international financial institutions and corresponding ministries and agencies has taken place today, on April 24, 2017 in Training Center of the National Bank of Tajikistan.
Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan at opening ceremony addressing with welcome speech, expressed hopes that results of the given meeting will give a weighty impulse for the further extension and strengthening of fruitful cooperation in the frame of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, having left good and pleasant impressions in the hearts of participants of our event.
“Successful conducting of the given event will create a real ground for high level follow-up events of the international financial institutions, providing broad options for wide experience acquisition in sphere of protection of consumers, promotion of financial literacy, development of SME and mobile banking”, - underlined Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda.
At the continuation of opening ceremony Mr. Mumba Norbert, AFI’s Deputy Executive Director has noted in his address the achievements of Tajikistan in financial inclusion by adoption of Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Payment Services and Payment System and Strategy of Financial System Consumers Rights Protection for 2017-2019. He has underlined that presentation and consideration of the Strategy among member-countries of AFI will promote achievement of financial inclusion goals in Tajikistan in the frame of Maya Declaration.
Also Mr. Joseph Atta, Deputy Director of the Central bank of Nigeria, Mr. Mojica Menard, representative of the Central Bank of Philippines addressed with welcome speech to participants of event, having wished fruitful work to participants of Working Groups.
The National Bank of Tajikistan in the frame of cooperation with the AFI undertakes necessary measures on development of knowledge, skills and potential in sphere of improvement of financial inclusion in the country by participation in the activities of various AFI Working Groups.
The activity of given Working Groups supports an effective exchange of experience and deepen knowledges on financial inclusion, protection of consumers of financial services, financing of SME, issues of statistical data development on financial inclusion and other pressing issues.
The National Bank of Tajikistan is a full member of AFI since December 7, 2011 and it is a member of five AFI Working Groups, including: SME Finance (SMEF) Working Group, Consumer Empowerment and Market Conduct (CEMC) Working Group, Financial Inclusion Data (FID) Working Group, and Financial Inclusion Strategy (FIS) Peer Learning Group.
The main objective AFI in the member-countries is support in realization of a development policy on financial inclusion, which basic components are protection of consumers, financial literacy promotion, development of SME, Mobile Banking, Banking Agent and so on.
AFI is the organisation which plays an important role in development of financial inclusion among members of the organisation (member countries).
In 2008 AFI has created the first world information channel for central banks and other regulators in the countries with developing financial markets.
We should note that the National Bank of Tajikistan is a member of five of six operating Working Groups of this international organisation, and has accepted the commitments on implementation of financial inclusion in Tajikistan according to Maya Declaration in 2014.
