On July 9, 2017 Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has received Mr. Ueli Maurer, Federal Adviser - Head of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Switzerland, who was within working visit in Tajikistan from July 8 – 9 of current year.
On this meeting Mr. Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Switzerland was accompanied by Mr. Urs Schmid, Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Switzerland in the Republic ofTajikistan, Mr. Jorg Gasser, State Secretary for International Financial Matters of the Ministry of Finance of Switzerland, Mrs. Daniela Shtoffel, Diplomatic Adviser for International Financial Matters of the Ministry of Finance of Switzerland, Ms. Valburga of Roses, adviser and consul of the Swiss Agency for International Cooperation in Tajikistan, Mr. Peter Minder, Head of Foreign Relations Department of the Ministry of Finance of Switzerland and Ms. Friderike Polens, Director of International Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance of Switzerland.
At the beginning of the meeting Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has briefly acquainted the Swiss delegation with present macroeconomic indicators and situation in banking system of the Republic of Tajikistan, stating that irrespective to influence of economic crisis and gaps in banking sphere the National Bank of Tajikistan by implementation of some reforms has reached notable results and provided corresponding financial stability.
During the meeting Mr. J. Nuraliev has satisfyingly noted about mutually advantageous cooperation of parties within the limits of Breton Woods Group, including partnership with Switzerland in the framework of cooperation with the World Bank and IMF.
Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan also has underlined for acceleration and strengthening of cooperation within the limits of other international financial institutions, like the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Also, during the meeting the parties have discussed financial and economic situation in the Republic of Tajikistan and its participation in realisation of the Chinese global economic project “One Belt, One way”. The given project has interested many leading countries of the world with its global value.
In turn, Mr. Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Switzerland has signified satisfaction for the level of cooperation of the National Bank of Switzerland with the National Bank of Tajikistan and expressed readiness of extension of mutually advantageous cooperation in sphere of stabilisation of banking system, and also on various economic sectors of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During discussion Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan also having noted the best practices of Switzerland in sphere of banking activity, has expressed interest of extension of cooperation on exchange of experience and improvement of professional skill of the bank personnel by extension of technical assistance.
Special emphasis has been placed on exchange of experience in transition sphere to a inflation targeting mode in realisation of monetary policy, risk management policy, maintenance of financial stability, bank supervision and management of the international reserves which are considered as priority directions for NBT. These offers have been supported by Mr. Ueli Maurer.
Also it has been noted that due to mutually advantageous cooperation and image which use the Swiss companies in sphere of precious metals refining, the National Bank of Tajikistan established cooperation with “Metallor” Company (Switzerland).
In the meantime, parties have discussed the issues connected with attraction of the investment into the Republic of Tajikistan. Mr. Maurer has underlined transparency necessity and access to various economic information in the Republic of Tajikistan, promoting as the motivation factor for foreign investors.
Then interesting and substantial discussion of Heads of structural subdivisions of the National Bank of Tajikistan with representatives of financial structures of Switzerland has taken place, where various directions of cooperation were discussed.
Finally, Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of NBT has thanked Mr. Ueli Maurer, Federal Adviser - Head of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Switzerland and Working Group for visiting the Republic of Tajikistan.
It is necessary to note that within the frame of working trip program, the Delegation of the Ministry of Finance of Switzerland planned to spend a number of meetings in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan and representatives of the international financial institutions in Tajikistan, in particular, the World Bank, IMF and IFC.
