On August 8, 2017, Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan met with Mr. Peter Fernandes Cardy, Head of the Department for International Development (DFID) in Central Asia.
During the meeting, issues of implementing projects, financed by the Government of the UK, through international financial institutions in Tajikistan, were discussed.
Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliev, familiarizing Mr. Peter Fernandes Cardy with current macroeconomic and financial indicators of the country, especially in the banking system, DFID assistance in reforming the financial system, noted that the banking system of the Republic of Tajikistan requires support and regular technical assistance through the implementation of attractive projects in various spheres, including, monetary policy, banking supervision, financial stability and insurance.
In turn, Mr. Peter Fernandes Cardy said that the representation of the the Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK in Central Asia will continue cooperation in the banking sector and is willing to consider concrete proposals in this direction.
During the working meeting, First Deputy Chairman of NBT invited on the Head of the Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK in Central Asia to support in rise of the UK banks’ interest in the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the end, it was noted that ultimately the parties can utilize all available opportunities for establishing fruitful cooperation.
