Meeting with representatives of the Agency on drug control under the President the Republic of Tajikistan on AML/CFT/PWMDFP

On February 28, 2019, a meeting with representatives of the Agency on drug control under the President the Republic of Tajikistan on “Anti-money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Financing Prevention (AML/CFT/PMDWD)” took place in the National Bank of Tajikistan.

Mr. Faizullo Faizullozoda, Director of Financial Monitoring Department having opened the meeting by welcome address, has presented to participants of a meeting the information on current state of Anti-money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing. Mr. Faizullozoda has noted that counteraction to drug trafficking and incomes of such crimes being important, demands effective cooperation.

Mr. Faizullozoda F. during his speech has called representatives of Agency on drug control for cooperation in the field of Anti-money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing in the sphere of legalisation (washing up) of incomes of drug trafficking through exchange information. At the end of Mr. Faizullozoda F.’s act the representatives of Financial Monitoring Department have presented presentations on various themes on AML/CFT/PMDWD.

It is worth to stress out that discussion of issues on risks of legalisation (washing up) of the incomes received by criminal way, inherent in the Republic of Tajikistan has taken place during a meeting, and necessity to law enforcement bodies to pay more attention to ML issues in their activity.

Along with the above mentioned it has been also noted that the number of criminal cases, containing ML structure, because of small number of revealed such crime by law enforcement bodies is insignificant. It is necessary to note that representatives of Agency on drug control took active participation at the meeting, having asked the employees of Financial Monitoring Department some questions and received exhaustive answer.

In conclusion Mr. Faizullozoda F. has encouraged the participants of meeting to show vigilance in AML/CFT/PMDWD issues, and also stressed out that National Bank of Tajikistan, in particular Financial Monitoring Department, plan to improve qualification of employees of public organs of the country by organization of training events.

Financial Monitoring Department
