On November 18, 2021, Mohbonu Nakhatzoda Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan held a working meeting with Barbara Rambusek, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Gender and Financial Inclusion and her colleagues.
NBT Deputy Chairman Mohbonu Nakhatzoda thanked the EBRD representatives for productive cooperation in implementation of projects aimed at economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan, overcoming negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting the membership of the National Bank of Tajikistan in the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
“The National Bank of Tajikistan pays special attention to provide economic opportunities for individuals and entrepreneurs, support economic development and ensure access to financial services, and it also takesnecessary measures to develop National Strategy for Financial Inclusion of the Republic of Tajikistan. “We are confident that this strategy will be successfully developed and implemented” said Mohbonu Nakhatzoda.
Ms Barbara Rambousek, EBRD Director for Gender and Financial Inclusion, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and opportunity to get acquainted with the NBT management and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation between the EBRDand the NBT.
Ms. Barbara Rambousek identified collection and processing of data on the level of financial inclusion of women in the country and support for women entrepreneurship as priority areas of bilateral cooperation and noted that the EBRD is ready to provide support and assistance in examining international experience in implementing financial inclusion policies.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that so far the National Bank of Tajikistan has establisheda basis for creating a database on the level of financial inclusion of the population and considers it necessary to strengthen cooperation and attract technical assistance in this area.
During the meeting, it was also noted that the EBRD, in collaboration with the NBT, will conduct a training program "Gender Intelligence" for credit financial institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Likewise, over the meeting parties had a discussion on development of insurance sector, they exchanged views on attracting technical assistance in this area, and the EBRD representatives expressed their readiness to consider matters related totechnical assistance provision for development of insurance sector.
Concluding the meeting, the parties expressed full readiness to further strengthen existing cooperation.
