International Investment Forum "Dushanbe-invest 2023" creates favorable conditions for expanding economic and trade cooperation

On September 29-30, 2023, the International Investment Forum "Dushanbe-invest 2023" took place in Dushanbe.

The official opening ceremony of the International Forum "Dushanbe-Invest 2023" was addressed by the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the City of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustami Emomali and Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda.

The Forum was attended by Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Koishybayev, high-ranking guests from other countries and heads of relevant ministries and departments of the country, as well as more than 600 domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors.

Later in the second half of the day, the Forum continued its work at the National Library of Tajikistan in the framework of panel sessions, where Forum participants had the opportunity to discuss and exchange information on the following topics: “Investment potential of Dushanbe”, “Industry is the main factor of economic development and the basis for investment”. “Tajikistan is a country of green “energy”, participation of the private sector in energy development”, “The role of the financial system in the development of entrepreneurship and attracting investments”, “Development of a green economy, digitalization and free economic zones in the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Investment opportunities in the field of agriculture economy, production and export of environmentally friendly agricultural products to the world market”, “Development of transport, logistics and transport communications” and “Investment opportunities in the healthcare sector, prospects for the development of the pharmaceutical industry and private medicine in the Republic of Tajikistan”.

At the same time, investors, domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, representatives of international financial institutions and heads of credit financial institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the panel 4 on "The Role of the Financial System in the Development of Entrepreneurship and Attraction of Investments", which was led by the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Kholiqzoda Hokim Hikmatullo.

Panel 4 of the Forum was opened by the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda, who said: "The purpose of today's event is to present the greater potential and favorable investment environment of Tajikistan, attract capital, strengthen cooperation between domestic companies and foreign investors, as well as to create opportunities for the development of digital business in order to implement the fourth strategic goal - accelerated industrialization of the country, and within the framework of this Forum will be organized by the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda. Then the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan gave the floor to Mr. Hokim Kholiqzoda, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, moderator of Panel 4.

Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan emphasized that the International Forum Dushanbe-Invest 2023 creates a favorable basis for discussing issues of the financial system and taking necessary measures to attract additional investments, will provide vast opportunities to strengthen economic ties of Tajikistan with foreign investors, assess the national economic potential and promote business and investment activities in Tajikistan.

It was noted that operation of the banking system is one of the key factors in ensuring the stability of the country's economy, and in this context, the National Bank of Tajikistan is taking all necessary measures to ensure its stable operation, the purpose of which is to promote the development of the industry. In this regard, Hokim Kholiqzoda expressed the readiness of the country's banking system to freely dialog with development partners to strengthen the banking system as the main artery of the country's economy.

Further, at the suggestion of Hokim Kholiqzoda, presentations were made on "Investment opportunities in the banking system of the country. The role of the banking system in the development of entrepreneurship", "Insurance market in the Republic of Tajikistan: state, infrastructure and prospects of development", "Growth of non-cash settlements and modern means of payment in the Republic of Tajikistan", Bank Eskhata OJSC - "Bank Eskhata's experience in financing important areas of the national economy and attracting foreign capital", Tavhidbank OJSC - "Islamic banking in the Republic of Tajikistan, status, opportunities and development prospects", CJSC “SO Bima” - "Prospects for attracting capital to the insurance market", LLC IRO Spitamen Insurance - "Investments of Spitamen Insurance in the banking system and development of the insurance market", EBRD representative office in Central Asia and Mongolia - "The role of the financial system in the development of entrepreneurship and investment attraction" and International Finance Corporation representative office in the Republic of Tajikistan - "Operations and Strategies of the International Finance Corporation".

Summarizing the results of Panel 4, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Hokim Kholiqzoda called on all participants to actively cooperate to implement common joint tasks and raise mutually beneficial partnership cooperation to an even higher level.

In the final part of Panel 4, the signing ceremony was held on the Roadmap for the implementation of the International Finance Corporation's project "Financing on the basis of movable assets" for SMEs in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2024. The Roadmap was signed by Mr. Hokim Kholiqzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and Mr. Farukh Sultonov, Permanent Representative of the International Finance Corporation in the Republic of Tajikistan.
