National Processing Centre for payment cards is established

As it has been earlier informed, the National Bank of Tajikistan has invited the interested companies for participation in a competitive selection (tender) for establishment of the National Processing Centre of payment cards in the Republic of Tajikistan.  The National Bank of Tajikistan in cooperation with banks, credit institutions with a view of reduction of a share of cash calculations in the territory of the country has started to develop the project on establishment of the National Processing Centre. The given project and development of tender documents for providing necessary equipment are carried out with the assistance of the World Bank.  The main objective of establishment of the National Processing Centre, first of all, is development of non-cash (electronic) settlements system and creation of a stable infrastructure providing efficiency of use of payment cards in the country. The activity of the above-named centre is directed on implementation of retail payments through payment cards in a mode of real and other time.  It is planned that after opening of the National Processing Centre, other world payment systems, such as “Master card”, “Visa card”, “American Express” also will be comprehensively used in the territory of the republic.  The establishment of such National Processing Centre is the important step on a way of reform of national payments system and creates favorable conditions for its further improvement.  Press-Center NBT August 12, 2010
