Meeting with Mr. Masihiko Oshima

Today, on October 24, 2015, in the NBT has taken place the meeting of Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan with Mr. Masihiko Oshima, General Director, Bank of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Ltd. (CMBC Europe Ltd.) who has arrived to Tajikistan as a part of the Japanese delegation during official visit of the Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Sindzo Abe.

In the beginning of the meeting Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan has introduced visitor with macroeconomic situation and banking system of republic, including issues connected with the rate of national currency, balance of payments, inflation rate. Thus, NBT’s Chairman declared that despite continuation of world economic and financial crisis, growth of national economy for nine months of current year has made 6,2 % and inflation rate 3,6 % which is less on 2,1 percentage points concerning same period of previous year. Also, for this period, deposits volume of population in the credit organizations has increased by 22 %. Loans issued by banks to the remote mountain areas, enterprises and entrepreneurs who create new workplaces have essentially increased. 

In the course of conversation he has noticed that due to economic and financial crisis like in other countries there were some problems and for their solution it is necessary to expand international cooperation to receive technical assistance and support.

Also, it was underlined that the National Bank of Tajikistan is interested in cooperation with CMBC Europe Ltd. in the field of professional training, exchange of experience and attraction of technical assistance in sphere of information technologies.

Mr. Masihiko Oshima, General Director, Bank of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Ltd. with satisfaction mentioned that this day is special for him because it will be beginning of bilateral cooperation with the National Bank of Tajikistan and expressed hope that their bank will contribute to development of Tajikistan’s economy and banking system.

At the same time, Mr. Masihiko Oshima expressed their readiness to provide technical assistance in information technologies sphere, training and improvement of professional skill of bank specialists and beginning of bilateral cooperation with commercial banks of Tajikistan.

During meeting Mr. Masihiko Oshima has noticed that CMBC Japan has more than 300 years history and considered as one of leading and largest banks of Japan, and CMBC Europe Ltd. is independent universal bank in London, having its representations in Amsterdam, Dublin, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Prague. Unique shareholder of CMBC Europe Ltd. is Sumitimo Mitsui Corporation Japan.

In the end of fruitful meeting, parties have decided to start effective mutually beneficial cooperation, to prepare declaration project on cooperation and to sign it in the near future.
