Inspections of exchange bureaus proceed

On December 3, current year the joint working team established by the National Bank of Tajikistan and Agency on State Financial Control and Fight against Corruption for exchange control and regulation of the exchange market has continued the inspection of exchange bureaus in a number of cities and regions of the republic.

During carrying out joint operation it was revealed a number of infringements in the work of 18 exchange bureaus of the OJSC "Tojiksodirotbank", CJSC "Tojprombank", OJSC "Orienbank" in the districts of Gissar, Rudaki, Vahdat and Nurek town. In the majority of exchange bureaus of the above-stated banks it was identified in particularly a shortage and surplus of money resources, absence of currency purchase and sale registration journal, self-willed setting of exchange rate, absence of inspections registration made by bank’s head office, inactivity of some exchange offices for unknown reasons, discrepancy between exchange rate indicator board and order of bank’s head office. Also it was identified one case of illegal exchange of currency by inhabitant of Yavan district, whose money resources were confiscated.

It is necessary to note that in comparison with last days the financial discipline in some exchange offices has improved and the volume of shortage and surplus of money resources in their cash desks was much more reduced.

For gamble and rough infringement of the NBT legal acts requirements it was applied certain enforcement actions in relation to the above mentioned staffs of exchange offices and it was recommended to credit institutions do not employ these employees of exchange offices.

On this basis, the National Bank of Tajikistan takes corrective measures and enforcement actions in relation to the OJSC "Tojiksodirotbank", CJSC "Tojprombank" and OJSC "Orienbank".
