National Bank of Tajikistan became a member of the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network - SBFN

On December 8, 2023 the Sustainable Banking and Financing Network SBFN has sent a written confirmation on accepting the membership of National Bank of Tajikistan in the SBFN.

It should be noted that the SBFN was established in 2012 by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and as of December, 2023 the network cooperates with 84 financial regulators and industry associations in 66 countries.

Members of this network, according to level and thematic working groups, cooperate at various stages of the implementation of sustainable finance measures, implement national initiatives on sustainable finance, implement national initiatives on sustainable growth in the framework of international practice and contribute to the development of sustainable finance in their countries.

In this regard, the SBFN members need to take action to improve the environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) of financial institutions, including managing and disclosing climate risks, increasing the flow of capital to activities that have a positive environmental and social impact such as reducing climate change.

The country's banking system is carrying out appropriate work in this direction and the National Bank of Tajikistan as a regulatory authority, is taking the necessary measures to bring the activities of the country's banking system into line with international practice.
