On November 15, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honorable Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent on the sidelines of the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, first of all, expressed gratitude to the leader of the host country for the invitation and warm welcome.

Satisfaction was expressed with the steady development of interstate political dialogue.

Particular attention was paid to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, the use of opportunities in important strategic sectors, such as energy, industry, agriculture, and the development of ties in the field of innovative technologies.

Recalling the increase in the volume of trade turnover between the two countries, which in the first 9 months of this year reached more than 440 million US dollars, it was highlighted that there is sufficient opportunity to further increase this indicator.

The strengthening of cooperation between the regions and its significant effectiveness were stressed.

Scientific, cultural, and humanitarian ties were recognized as having a special place in the relations between the two countries.

Ensuring regional security and the joint fight of the countries against terrorism, extremism, religious radicalism, cybercrime, and drug trafficking were among the important topics of the conversation.

Also, an exchange of views took place on cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan within the framework of the UN, SCO, CIS, and Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
